    CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The 22News Storm Team has declared a Weather Alert for strong to severe thunderstorms on Friday. A Flood Watch is up for all of western Massachusetts from noon Friday until midnight Saturday. Friday’s 7 am temperatures will be in the 60s and 70s. Have an indoor alternative to any outdoor plans on Friday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Friday morning. Showers and thunderstorms are likely Friday afternoon and evening.

    CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Smoke from wildfires burning in Canada is expected to cast a haze over the skies and diminish air quality in Massachusetts. The sun is out across much of western Massachusetts on Wednesday however, the sky is very hazy from wildfire smoke. This is wildfire smoke high in the atmosphere from Canada. The smoke gets caught in the upper levels of the jet stream and gets carried east, giving the smoke here in New England. The smoke may be noticeable in New England until Friday.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Weather Service have released their 2025 summer outlook for the United States. They predict above-average temperatures for the country for meteorological summer, which is June through August. In New England, expect well above average temperatures over the next few months.

    CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) -While we finally saw some sun and warmer weather today, the month of May has been well above average when it comes to rainfall. We have seen well above average rainfall here in western Massachusetts this month with Westover Airbase in Chicopee seeing 6.33 inches of rain. The average rainfall for the month is 3.7 inches so we are 2.63 inches above average. Some areas such as Conway have seen over seven inches on the month.
