It wasn’t until I had my daughter that I started watching old childhood movies with new eyes. Now, first thing’s first, many of the films I’m about to mention can still be labeled as excellent stories. I thoroughly enjoyed watching lots of these movies growing up, and how the characters are portrayed doesn’t take away from the story telling. With that said, I believe it’s crucial we respect the power of story and how it effects our culture from the inside out.

Ventura—During its Tuesday, Feb. 11 City Council meeting, Council Members approved ending its agreement with FFP Solar Services on a split vote. The City included a plan during the meeting, including new pay stations, a permit management system, and the appropriate language, and it is consistent with the specific plan. Before the latest parking study conducted, Council Member Mangone asked what lots were converted to four hours.

Oxnard— The City of Oxnard recently installed signs prohibiting trucks over 5 tons from traveling along Oxnard Boulevard south of Gonzales Road. THE signs accompany “Truck Route” signs in place for several years. Section 8-3(A) of the Oxnard City Code designates Oxnard Boulevard, between Wooley Road and Gonzales Road, as a light-traffic street, and Section 8-3(B) OCC prohibits commercial trucks greater than 5 tons to travel along light traffic streets in Oxnard.

Oxnard—The Public Works and Transportation Committee, Tuesday, October 22, approved a trade services agreement with Taft Electric Company for on-call signal repair and maintenance. The agreement has an initial 1-year and 10-day term from November 20, 2024, until November 30, 2025, with an option for four consecutive 1-year period extensions, with the final term ending November 30, 2029. The contract’s total will not exceed $500,000.
