    (BRECKENRIDGE, CO) – A missing Moorhead man is dead. On Sunday morning, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado confirms to Flag Family Media News that the body of 51-year-old Leroy Schmidt was found in the Dillon Reservoir in Summit County. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Investigation also reported the developments on Saturday. Moorhead Police say Schmidt was reported missing on January 7 but had not been seen or heard from since November 2024.

    (FARGO, ND) – A man is treated for stab wounds after an incident early Sunday morning in Fargo. Police responded to the area of 9th Avenue South and 4th Avenue South on a vague report of a potential stabbing. Officers canvassed the area and did not find anyone. Less than an hour later, officers responded to the 300 block of 9th Street where there was a male with multiple stab wounds. When officers arrived, they located the victim, who was transported to the hospital for treatment of the injuries.

    (NEW FOLDEN TOWNSHIP, MINN) – One person is dead after a crash in Marshall County. The Minnesota State Patrol says a 2021 Ford Escape, driven by a 79-year-old Karlstad woman, was southbound on Highway 59 when a 2014 Western Star Semi, driven by a 64-year-old Robert Benson, of Mahnomen, was northbound on the same highway. The two vehicles collided. The Minnesota State Patrol says more information will be released later.

    (GRAND FORKS, ND) – Grand Forks Police are releasing the results of recent tobacco compliance checks. The Police Department says the checks are completed using area under-age buyers who enter tobacco-selling products. They’re supervised by police officers and attempt to buy tobacco products by not concealing their actual age. A total of 19 businesses were checked, with four failures. The businesses who failed were TA Express, Cenex, Hugo’s Wine and Spirits and Pluto’s.

    (VATICAN CITY, ROME) – The Vatican has announced the cause of death of Pope Francis. In a communication Monday, the Vatican says the Pope died at 7:35 a.m. Central European Summer Time. The cause was listed as stroke, which led to a coma and ‘irreversible cardiovascular collapse.’The 88-year-old was recovering from pneumonia in both lungs. He had previously been hospitalized for more than a month.
