May 9—WILLMAR — Timely hitting was the difference in the Willmar baseball team's conference win over the St. Cloud Crush on Thursday evening. The Cardinals put together two runs on three hits in the fourth inning to get past St. Cloud with a 2-0 victory in the Central Lakes Conference game at Klemmetson Field. Willmar, which has won four of its last five contests, improves to 7-5 overall and 5-5 in conference play. The Crush are 10-4 overall and 7-3 in the CLC.

May 7—WILLMAR — Marshall put up four runs in the first inning of a non-conference softball game against Willmar on Tuesday. And the runs just kept coming for the Tigers. Marshall put up 19 hits in a 12-0 victory over the Cardinals. Mackenzie Olsen was 4-for-4 with a home run, a triple, three runs and two RBIs for the Tigers. Harley Beek also hit a home run, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs. Brielle Riess and Jaina Dekker also had three hits for Marshall. The Cardinals were held to two hits.

May 7—PAYNESVILLE — Esau Nelson shut the door for the Paynesville baseball team against New London-Spicer in a bout between two Section 3AA-North heavyweights on Tuesday evening. Nelson pitched six scoreless innings with as many strikeouts in the Bulldogs' 6-0 non-conference victory over the Wildcats. The sophomore's effort helped Paynesville improve to 3-0 in the section and 13-1 overall. NLS is 0-1 in the section and 7-3 overall.

May 3—NEW LONDON — New London-Spicer's Jowell Gamez won the No. 1 singles title Friday in the West Central Conference boys tennis tournament. Gamez, the fourth seed, went 3-0, including beating third-seeded Blake Brehmer of Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 6-1, 6-3 in the final. The Minnewaska doubles team of Drew Bleick and Carter LeClair took first at No. 1 singles, posting a 2-0 record. The Lakers' duo beat Logan Schauer and Isaac Carlson of Benson/KMS 6-4, 6-1 in the final.

May 3—MURDOCK — It took three at-bats for Eden Valley-Watkins to get on the board first, and from there, the Eagles never looked back. EVW lashed out 14 hits across six innings en route to a 15-1 victory over Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg on Friday. The Eagles were paced by the first three batters in their order. All had three hits. At the leadoff spot, Alison Thielen went 3-for-4 with a triple and a double, adding three runs. Anna Kramer was 3-for-4 with three runs.
