    Nominations for the 2025 City of Logan Australia Day Awards have opened. The awards celebrate the achievements and contributions of extraordinary Logan citizens, and sees the city’s Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year crowned. Local council said the awards were presented to individuals who had made a “significant contribution to the local community over a number of years and towards creating a better city”.

    Blocks scattered across Beenleigh are primed for development and ready to capitalise on to meet housing targets, according to experts. Local sales agent Ryan Trama said properties like 167 Main Street had the potential for major development, which was “popping up” across the suburb. “It is within the Logan City Council’s low-to-medium density and residential apartment zone, so with that comes a range of potential development opportunities – subject to council approval,” Mr Trama said.

    Flagstone State Community College’s fence was last Friday adorned with hundreds of lifelike cutouts depicting students’ preparation for severe weather events. The display is part of a Queensland-first program delivered by Logan City Council and the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) ahead of the upcoming storm season. It is hoped the decorations would encourage residents to prepare their properties and families for extreme weather.

This will be Bickerstaff’s fourth head coaching job after Cleveland, the Memphis Grizzlies, and Houston Rockets. ESPN Sources: The Detroit Pistons are hiring J.B. Bickerstaff as the franchise’s next coach.
