    Justin RiesStaff WriterThe men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams held their first home meet of the year on Saturday morning at the La Verne Aquatic Center with a dual meet against Redlands. La Verne is coming off losses in both the men’s and women’s sides against Lewis and Clark in Portland, Oregon, on Oc. 18. The men’s team lost, 128-47, and the women’s team lost, 103-78. La Verne’s teams are both young going into this year. On the women’s side, they have one senior, Lindsey Habegger.

    La Verne’s women’s basketball squad continues their pursuit of back-to-back SCIAC regular season championships with a 81-64 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Wednesday night at Frantz Athletic Court, leaving them tied with Cal Lutheran for first place going into the final game of the regular season.

    Leila El SabbaghStaff WriterThe Leopards were unable to secure a win against the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen on Homecoming weekend, losing 31-17 at Ortmayer Stadium. The Kingsmen neutralized the La Verne defense, scoring on their opening drive of the game. Cal Lutheran added two more touchdowns, taking a three score lead in the second quarter, 21-0.

The event consisted of three student authors who read their works. Roughly 40 ULV community members attended the event.

    Margaret ContrerasLV Life Editor The Noche Latina was in full swing Sept. 27 on the Citrus Lawn. The Campus Activities Board held the event in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 5 to Oct. 15. Music played by the live band playing banda music, Conjunto Caspian, could be heard throughout campus. Noche Latina event coordinator and sophomore business major Emily Melkonyan brought the first banda ever to a CAB event.
