ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - An omega blocking high in Canada is sending a lot of fast-moving weather waves into the state of Alaska. The most severe weather is occurring in the Interior where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until Sunday morning. Snow and freezing rain are expected with some areas likely to see up to 2 inches of snow and about one tenth of an inch of ice accumulations. In the meantime, the Eastern Alaska Range is under a Wind Advisory until Sunday afternoon.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The transition to the fall season this weekend went relatively quiet and smooth with no active areas of weather across the state. High pressure is dominating most of the mainland and as a result, most regions are able to enjoy the emerging golden foliage on the trees under sunshine and blue skies. Add a little bit of snow at the higher elevations of the mountain ranges and it just doesn’t get any better. This weather pattern is expected to last for a few days.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Active weather in the form of a series of lows will continue to pound Prince William Sound and the northern Gulf Coast. The already-soaked areas from Whittier to Valdez — and especially Cordova to Yakutat — are expected to receive more heavy rainfall through Tuesday.   In the meantime, the rest of the Southcentral region will be starting the work week off with scattered showers from Homer to Kenai and Soldotna to Seward.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Labor Day in Alaska promises to bring a short break to the wet and windy weather of the season. Except for the Southeast Panhandle and the Northwest coastline, most of the Last Frontier will get a little sunshine and clearing. The Southcentral region is looking at a few morning showers with mostly sunny skies expected by afternoon.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Mother Nature delivered a nice start to the weekend for the Southcentral region with partly sunny skies and above average temperatures from Anchorage to Homer — a great way to usher in this first weekend in September. While winds are still a little gusty, it was a well-deserved break from the havoc the winds caused the region several days earlier.
