A Harrisburg police officer was put on paid leave after being accused of pulling his girlfriend off a couch by her hair while harassing her early Sunday at their home in York County. Lee R. Brown, 39, has worked as an officer in Harrisburg since at least 2022. He was free on a signature bond Monday after being charged Sunday with simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor, and two summary offenses: harassment and criminal mischief.

A York County doctor was charged with rape, sexual extortion and dozens of other crimes after investigators say he used his position prescribing methadone to sexually abuse drug-addicted women. Christopher J. Davis, 63, solicited nude photos and coerced methadone patients into sexual acts in exchange for him continuing to authorize their access to drug treatment medications, according to the state attorney general’s office. Methadone helps to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings for opioids.

A woman caught in the crossfire of a dispute to which she had no part in 2015 died last year in a homicide case that remains unsolved. The death of Janae L. Williams, 37, in August at a rehabilitation center was ruled a homicide, stemming from the gunshot wound to her head in the early hours of Jan. 15, 2015 in the 500 block of Schuylkill Street outside the Royal Pub bar. The bar later permanently closed.
