WILDWOODS – The lawsuit asking a judge to prevent Wildwood Crest from leaving the Five Mile Dune project remains on hold, pending whether the affected towns can reach agreement about it. The state Department of Environmental Protection sent a letter dated March 11 to the four municipalities involved in the $54 million project.

A Wildwood Crest man has been arrested and charged with shooting and killing a woman in a park in Millville late last year, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office. Kirk E. Williams, 30, has been charged with murder, three weapons offenses and tampering with evidence in the killing of Teaoshia Still, 36. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, on Nov. 9, 2024, a jogger called Millville police after finding Still’s body in Waltman Park.

NORTH WILDWOOD – The city’s towing contractor was removing equipment from the boardwalk when the truck broke through the boards. A crane had to be used to lift the truck out of the hole it created. Mayor Patrick Rosenello said the driver “made a wrong turn and unfortunately went through the boardwalk” between 25th and 26th avenues. Rosenello said this is not the first time such a thing has happened. “We have had other incidents. It happens from time to time,” he said.

NORTH WILDWOOD – For the first time in 12 years, the city will have a new mayor after the Nov. 4 general election. As it is now, Salvatore “Sal” Zampirri Sr. will be asking Republicans to choose him in the June 10 primary election to be the nominee for the office in what could be an uncontested election. That could change if an independent candidate files the necessary 107 voter signatures by 4 p.m. June 10, which is the deadline for direct nominations for the general election.

WILDWOOD – Ed Quigley of Richmond, Virginia, was at Bethany Beach, Delaware, on July 7, 2015, when he was struck in the head by a beach umbrella that went airborne due to the wind. The oak shaft of the umbrella penetrated his left eye and breached his brain cavity. “I died during brain surgery,” he said. Quigley told the Board of Commissioners last month that the medical team did 23 minutes of chest compressions and used a defibrillator seven times, eventually bringing him back.
