    The Carlinville Area Hospital is working diligently to bring the Rural Health Clinic to Virden with an anticipated opening date of March 31st. Located at 1611 N. Springfield, the new clinic will include 10 exam rooms for Primary Care and a Walk-in Clinic. It will also have a lab, x-ray and therapy services for the people living in Virden and its neighboring communities.

In January, the Quad City Farm Show will be the 19th -21st in Rock Island, Ill., at the QCCA Expo Center.

    With several Route 66 icons, one of the most unique is the American Giants Museum, the only one of its kind, it highlights the Muffler Men history. The term “Muffler Man” name wasn’t coined until the 1990s, but today it is used interchangeably with these giant, hollow fiberglass statues built from approximately 1960-1972.  The giant statues were used as advertisements, usually about 20 feet tall, and were produced in Venice, California by International Fiberglass Company.
