That's every community, every county in this state. And really, food insecurity affects every single county and community across the country," said Annette Hacker with the Food Bank of Iowa. Twelve percent of Iowans and about 16.6 percent of Iowa children are facing food insecurity, which means 1 in 6 kids.

The May 6, 1975 storm destroyed homes, businesses, and several Omaha landmarks. Forecasting technology today is not what it was 50 years ago, and while meteorologists back then were able to provide people with warnings, weather radar technology has made huge advances.

South Hardin Schools Superintendent Adam Zellmer said it happened during a fire drill on Friday morning at Eldora-New Providence elementary school, when the teacher was working one-on-one with the student. He says the teacher sustained injuries, and received medical attention. No word on the condition of the staffer or age and grade of the student.
