Multiple hospitals in the Texas Medical Center suffered power outages Monday afternoon. A Houston Methodist spokesperson confirmed some of the hospital's buildings lost power Monday and transitioned to emergency power for approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Power has since been restored, the spokesperson said. Memorial Hermann also announced a power outage at at least one of its locations shortly before 4 p.m. Monday. At least one emergency elevator was working.

Two more natural gas power plant projects have been denied loans from Texas’ $5 billion program meant to attract more electricity supply for the state’s primary power grid. Including these two denials, almost five gigawatts of power plant projects have been denied funding or voluntarily withdrawn from the taxpayer-backed Texas Energy Fund, or enough capacity to power approximately 1.2 million homes.

Fervo Energy has executed an agreement to sell power from its Utah geothermal project to Shell Energy North America, a retail energy subsidiary of the oil major Shell, the Houston-based geothermal startup announced Tuesday. The project, known as Cape Station, will also be upsized from 400 megawatts to 500 megawatts, Fervo said in its Tuesday announcement.
