A COUNCIL tax rise of 9.75% has been proposed by leaders in Carmarthenshire to help deal with significant spending pressures while trying to protect essential services like education. The figure could change between now and the end of February when full council sets the 2025-26 budget.

Mowgli Street Food is a stunning setting for a festive night out (Image: Dan Burns) Mowgli Street Food invited me to try its new Christmas feasting menu and it was a great opportunity to try something alternative to the traditional Christmas dinner of Turkey, roasties and veg. Mowgli has two restaurants in Wales, in Bridgend and Cardiff, I opted for the Cardiff venue for my evening out.

Gorslas senior citizens enjoy market trip MEMBERS of the Gorslas Senior Citizens had an enjoyable and eventful trip to Machynlleth on Wednesday, July 17 to attend the open market festivities. In the afternoon the party returned to Aberystwyth where once again the beautiful sea front and huge variety of shopping attracted all. The next trip will be to Tenby on August 20. The picture shows members relaxing on the promenade.

GORSLAS SENIOR CITIZENS - The beautiful weather brought out Parishioners and friends from the three Churches of the Parish to Llyn Llech Owain on Sunday, July 14 for the annual sing-a-long. Under the leadership of Rev. Dr Brian Jones and musical expertise of Mrs Janet Jones a select variety of ancient and modern hymns were enjoyed with gusto. Readings on the theme of "Sea Sunday" were provided by the Wardens Mrs Margaret Tait, Mr Wynne Derrick and Mr Winsey Taylor.
