The former England boss and Leeds local has been awarded a knighthood in the New Years Honours list. Southgate, who lives in Harrogate near Leeds, stepped down from the role in July after triumphantly leading England to the Euro 2024 final. He is the fourth England manager to be knighted, following Sir Bobby Robson, Sir Walter Winterbottom, and Sir Alf Ramsey.

The city has seen some dazzling Christmas decorations this year, but we have to say that this transformation takes the biscuit (or the mince pie). The Myrtle Tavern in Meanwood is famous for its incredible Christmas decorations, known for transforming their wonderful neighbourhood pub into a themed winter wonderland year after year. And this year is no exception, with the theme of ‘Chronicles of Narnia’, just walking through the doors here feels like stepping into a fairytale.

Bramley Baths has extended its community share offer after raising £120,000. Built to improve public health and wellbeing in response to the outbreak of cholera,Bramley Baths was one of eight public bath houses in Leeds. Local residents came to wash, swim and use the Russian Steam Baths which was a fashionable habit with the wealthier Edwardians. The baths have remained a constant in Leeds life, and following restoration in the late80s, was reopened in the early 90s.
