Last month, Meridian Township Police Chief Rick Grillo and Township Attorney Cullen Harkness presented a marijuana prosecution ordinance amendment to the Township Board. Tuesday, the board voted 6-0 to adopt the ordinance amendment, which allows the Township to keep funds from prosecuting marijuana offenses instead of the County. After heavy rains left flooded streets and basements behind in East Lansing twice in the past two months, the City of East Lansing held a listening session for residents to share their experiences. The city will compile the data gathered Thursday and use it to determine where improvements can be made to make sure infrastructure in the neighborhood can handle future heavy rainfall.

In March, the East Lansing City Council voted to revoke a license to operate for scooter company Spin, after several city ordinances were violated and hundreds of scooters ended up in the Red Cedar River. Now five months later, scooters are still being pulled from the river. Video shows magnet fishers working to help pull the scooters out of the river and thoughts from local waterway advocates.
