Running back Justice Haynes arrived at Michigan familiar with the expectations of a blue blood program, having come to U-M from Alabama. He knew there would be competition, embraced it, and as a result has already helped the offense tremendously. Experience is one thing the Wolverines’ offensive skill position players don’t have a lot of, minus a player or two. That makes Haynes one of the veterans in the room entering his third year in college, and he’s already doing his part to lead.

Michigan is expected to suspend head coach Sherrone Moore two games this fall, sources tell TheWolverine.com, as part of self-imposed sanctions for what’s become known as “signgate,” the scouting operation run by former staffer Connor Stalions. As previously reported, U-M has been continuously negotiating with the NCAA on potential punishments prior to a scheduled hearing this spring/summer.

Former Michigan assistant coaches Steve Clinkscale and Jesse Minter, now with the Los Angeles Rams, have both received Show Cause penalties from the NCAA for violating recruiting rules. From the NCAA on Minter: Former Michigan football assistant coach Jesse Minter has reached an agreement with NCAA enforcement staff about recruiting violations that occurred within the football program. A Division I Committee on Infractions panel has approved the agreement.

Michigan has gotten great safety play over the last several years, and Makari Paige has been a big part of it. The game he put on film at Ohio State this year was perhaps his best in the winged helmet, and many believe it boosted his NFL Draft stock. Paige was projected to go anywhere from day two to undrafted free agent … he eventually signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent, per Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports.
