SPOKANE, Wash. — On Monday, the Spokane City Council voted 4-3 against reinstating Proposition 1, the city's ban on homeless camping near schools, parks, and childcare centers. On Thursday, April 17, the Washington State Supreme Court ruled the law was invalid and struck down Proposition 1 — also known as the Hansen Initiative — which passed by a wide margin in the November 2023 election.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) hosted a meeting on Wednesday evening to let people give their input on the artwork that will adorn the next section of the North Spokane Corridor. WSDOT hired Reinaldo Gil Zambrando, an assistant professor of art at Gonzaga University, who says he hopes to bring designs of animals like turkeys and quail to life. "As an artist, you always want to do something that speaks to a larger community," said Zambrando.
