There are total of 342 admitted patients on trolleys in hospitals on Friday. The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) says University Hospital Limerick accounts for the largest number of those with 67, followed by University Hospital Galway with 51 and Sligo University Hospital with 29. Of the total number of people waiting for beds, 243 are in emergency departments while 99 are in wards.

A 101-year-old school that only had two students this year is to close on Friday. St. Oliver's national school in Stonetown, Dundalk, Co Louth is set to close its doors after the one sixth class student graduates. Barry Og O'Brien (11) will start post-primary school in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan in September while his younger sister Sheila (7) will enrol in second class in the nearby school in Louth Village.

The bill to the Revenue Commissioners of storing, managing and maintaining seized 'drug ship', the MV Matthew now totals €9.11 million. That is according to new figures provided by the Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe who said that the it is costing the Revenue Commissioners on average €120,000 per week to maintain and store the ship. The MV Matthew was seized on September 26th, 2023 in a dramatic drugs operation off the south coast.
