FLORA — The Flora girls tennis team hosted the Wolfgals Invite Saturday, picking up a big win over Benton, Herrin, Marion, Mattoon and Robinson. For Flora, Jenny Powless picked up a first place win in number one singles, Elena Warren was first in number two singles and Makenna Hackney was first in number three singles. In doubles, Addie Larch and Elise Duke were second in number one doubles and Leah Jones and Mya Sloan were first in number two doubles. The team will play Paris Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Clerk-Treasurer Vanessa Riggs recently informed the town board that she had filed for the community crossings grant funding for a number a streets that need work.

LOUISVILLE — The use of e-learning days have likely come to an end in the North Clay school district. At the board’s recent meeting, Superintendent Keith Price said that the schools e-learning plan will see no changes, but based on clarification by the Illinois State Board of Education, the district will likely not be using them for this school year.

FORT BRANCH — The Fort Branch town board discussed an increase for customer water and sewer rates. Mitchell Eschweiler of Baker Tilly joined the meeting via Zoom to talk about the rate study he worked on for the town. He said that after looking into the projects in the water and sewer departments, he recommends that the town go with a two phase approach to the increase, during the years of 2025 and 2026. These increases would go to covering operational expenses.
