    A 34-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman in Waterford City. Marcus O'Neill, with an address at 15 O'Brien St in Waterford City, appeared before a special sitting of Gorey District Court on Sunday night charged under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. Detective Sergeant Mick Bourke gave evidence of arrest charge and caution.

    A man has been charged in connection with the discovery of a woman's body in Waterford City on Saturday. The woman, aged in her 40s, was discovered by emergency services in an “unresponsive state” after they entered a house on O’Brien Street. She was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested, understood to be on suspicion of assault. It is understood the man was arrested at the scene. In an update on Sunday evening, gardaí say the man has since been charged.

    Two men have been arrested in connection with the fatal attack on William 'Willie' Moorehouse, which happened in Co Wicklow on Sunday. Mr Moorehouse, aged 36, was found by a passerby at about 6pm in a park in Bray. He died after suffering a number of lacerations and blade wounds to his body. On Monday evening, two men, aged in their 20s and 40s, were arrested for serious offences under the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act, 1994 in the Bray area.

With a Trump presidency looming, Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg announced his platforms would be ending third-party fact-checking on posts in the US and would instead switch to an X-style Community Notes system where users flag content as false or misleading.
