FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Two Fort Wayne women were sentenced Friday in connection with a 1-year-old girl’s 2023 death. Chrisona Bright, 27, and 26-year-old Sharon Myers both took plea deals in the case after being charged with neglect in Bre’Asia Christine Dowdell’s death. The girl’s cause of death was complications of blunt impact injuries, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - An 83-year-old Fort Wayne man has been identified as the person killed when he was run over by his unoccupied vehicle earlier this week. Baltazar Guzman was run over Tuesday after parking his vehicle at a home on Ardis Drive, off of Winchester Road. After he got out of the car, it rolled backwards onto him. Guzman was taken to a hospital in serious condition and later died. His cause of death was multiple crush injuries, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A 19-year-old Fort Wayne man was found not guilty Thursday in connection with a March stabbing. BACKGROUND: Two in custody after Saturday morning stabbing in northeast Fort WayneDante Williams was charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, and two counts of criminal confinement alongside his mother, 42-year-old Pam Williams. Jurors deliberated for about an hour and a half before returning their verdict.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Jurors found a 35-year-old man guilty Thursday in connection with his daughter’s 2021 death. Michael T. Allen was charged a month after 1-year-old Kaivonni Lynch died from a blow to the stomach that led to internal bleeding and ultimately her death, according to court records. Allen took his daughter to a fire station at about 1 a.m. on Feb. 25, 2021, and said she had been vomiting for several weeks.

Leaders from Fort Wayne Professional Firefighters Local 124, firefighters and their families attended to “call for accountability and demand action to address unsafe conditions, delayed response times and mismanagement by Fire Chief Eric Lahey.”They say “leadership failures” have led to firetrucks being taken out of service, causing delayed response times. They also say the department is suffering from unsafe staffing numbers and unfilled positions.
