(WFFT) - Downtown Wabash announced its July First Friday: BBQ in the Bash, will be on July 5 from 5-9 p.m.First Friday attendees are encouraged to embrace the backyard BBQ vibes by joining in for the cornhole tournament, enjoying live music, going on a shopping spree and taking part in downtown dining offerings. Bachelor Creek Church will host the cornhole tourney on Miami Street that will be open to all ages.

    DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WFFT) - A bicyclist was injured when he was hit by a Ford Escape on CR 66 Friday morning. Around 9:10 a.m., police say Leo Sarrazine, 81, of Auburn, was driving his Escape east on CR 66 when he hit a bicyclist, Michael Delauder, 61, of Auburn, who was exiting a driveway in the 1900 block of CR 66. Due to a hill crest in the area, investigators say it was hard for Sarrazine to see Delauder. Delauder suffered a broken leg, a head injury and several lacerations all over his body.

    LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. (WFFT) - One man is dead and another sustained multiple injuries in a crash Thursday morning. The crash happened around 5:28 a.m. at SR 5 in Topeka. Investigators say James Goodwin, 74, of Syracuse, was driving south on SR 5 in the area of 5400 S when he fell asleep and went left of center. Martin Macias Rodriguez, 61, of Ligonier, was traveling north on SR 5 and attempted to avoid hitting Goodwin, but was unsuccessful, hitting the right front of Goodwin's Caravan.

FWACC said July is one of the busiest days for animal shelters as many pets get scared by the noise and flashes from fireworks and run off. Tips to keep pets safe:Keep pets inside, where they feel safe and comfortable. Play calming music, white noise or Animal Planet on the TV. Cover windows with curtains to reduce visual stimulation.
