FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Indiana Governor Mike Braun (R) held a ceremonial signing of Senate Enrolled Act 520, which will create a new resting place for veteran remains in Allen County. The Governor held the event Thursday afternoon at the Veterans National Memorial Shrine and Museum, 2122 O’Day Road, surrounded by dignitaries and two local lawmakers who were credited with getting the bill to the Governor’s desk.

(WANE) — Allen County prosecutors filed a level-five count of Reckless Homicide against a Fort Wayne man Monday, months after a teen died from a gunshot wound in the 2900 block of Winter Street. Fort Wayne Police said Davion M. Vaughn-Foster, 26, mishandled a handgun, which resulted in the death of his niece, Myuanna Foster-Juarez on August 15, 2024.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — A two-vehicle crash just northwest of Defiance, OH, left one person dead Monday morning. The vehicles collided near State Road 15 and Deerfoot Drive around 11:25 a.m., the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. According to a release, a 2005 GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by Mark Riebsehl, 58, was traveling east, crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a 2020 GMC Terrain SUV driven by Dewey Nagel, 67. Nagel, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The Human Agricultural Cooperative announced it had received its third tranche of federal money through the Local Food Purchasing Assistance Program, administered by the state of Indiana. This year’s $400,000 will bring the three-year total to nearly $1.5 million. The group works with small farmers in 17 northeast Indiana counties to grow and distribute food.
