(PIX11)– The Port Washington community came together Saturday after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detained Fernando Mejia Thursday morning, a beloved local figure and longtime manager at Schmear Bagel Shop & Café. The neighborhood rallied for justice and the safe return of a man many call family, with chants of “ICE out, Fernando back!” echoing through the streets as dozens of friends, neighbors, and supporters gathered near the café.
