WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A fight broke out in a Sedgwick County courtroom Tuesday during a sentencing hearing involving a fatal shooting at Towne East Square Mall in 2022. The sentencing was for Te'bryis Robinson, 19, who was convicted of killing TrenJ'vious "Tubby" Hutton, 14. Before the sentence, Hutton's mother, Jeannette Dees, spoke to the judge about the impact of her son's loss. As she spoke, her words became more fiery. "My son's life is worth more than 20 years," she said.

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Work in McPherson County is helping to protect Wichita’s water. Last week, Wichita city leaders extended an agreement with the McPherson County Conservation District. The agreement is meant to work with farmers to reduce levels of in the Little Arkansas River, keeping those chemicals from being recharged into the Equus Beds Aquifer. Similar efforts are working to protect the Cheney Reservoir from runoff from farm fields.

Now, the city council is considering whether Wichita needs the position. On Thursday, Wichita Mayor Lily Wu said a discussion should begin. She said everything is on the table when it comes to finding a new city manager, or reconsidering the type of government we have in Wichita.
