A Cork TD has called for action after it emerged that hospitals on Leeside are spending thousands per day on taxis to transport patients between different facilities. Figures released to Sinn Féin TD Thomas Gould show that the HSE spent an average of €6,000 per day on taxis in Cork between 2020 and 2024. Deputy Gould has called for the hospitals to employ people directly to carry out this work, rather than relying on taxis.
