CRAWFORD CO., Kans. — One Pittsburg family who thought they would lose their baby after he was injured while at daycare, is celebrating his recovery ten months later. “Benny will never fully recover. He will always be different,” said Shelby Cannon, Benny’s mom. On June 27, 2024, while at daycare, four-month-old Benny Cannon was reportedly left unattended and unsecured in a bouncer. Authorities say he rolled over and was deprived of oxygen for a long period of time.

PITTSBURG, Kan. — One Southeast Kansas pickleball community will soon have a new home. Right at the Jack Johnson Tennis Center, where the current tennis courts in Pittsburg will soon be pickleball courts. The city’s Department of Parks and Recreation plans to completely demolish and take out the current two courts used for tennis and pickleball and create them into two new six-pickleball court facilities.

For example, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office showed purchased lunch and gifts for dispatchers. FORT SCOTT, Kans. — The Fort Scott community got to explore the 1800s this weekend. Today was day two of the annual “Spring Civil War Encampment” at the Fort Scott National Historic Site. The public was invited to experience what southeast Kansas was like during the Civil War. Guests could learn about infantry troops and see drills first hand, how they lived, and how long it would take to load ammunition for battle.
