According to Neosho County Sheriff Greg Taylor, the boys were walking on the railroad trestle over the Neosho River when they were hit. The call came in just after 12:30 p.m. The body of one of the boys was recovered, and the other went into the flooded river. It resulted in a search through the late afternoon on Wednesday.

    CRAWFORD CO., Kan. — The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks jump-starts the summer fishing season. Kansas state parks hosted Free Fishing Days on the 7 and 8 this weekend. On those days, anyone can legally fish without a Kansas fishing license. Fishers are still required to follow the rules and pay fees. That means having a vehicle permit and observing limits on the length and number of fish caught.

    JOPLIN, Mo. — Cars lined North Elm Road in Joplin today to drop off old tires. From 9 to 1, residents of McDonald, Jasper, Newton, Barton and Vernon counties could drop off up to ten tires for free. Crews split into three stations to check people in, remove rims and get tires unloaded as quickly as possible. Last year, 110 vehicles dropped off 12.6 tons of tires, a quarter-ton of aluminum and three-and-a-half-tons of steel rims.
