    The Hamilton softball team claimed its third consecutive Division 2 district title on Saturday, this time in dramatic fashion. The Hawkeyes defeated Grand Rapids South Christian 7-6 in eight innings. The game was tied 5-5 after seven innings. The Sailors scored one in the top of the eighth, but the Hawkeyes stormed right back and scored two to earn the walk-off win on Saturday, May 31. "We were in trouble and I am so proud of the girls for getting it done," Hamilton coach Mark Behnke said.

    KENTWOOD - As Emma Gunnett made her move, the West Ottawa girls 4x800 relay team could start to feel it. Gunnett passed Oak Park on the third leg and handed to Collette Wierks who kept the pace on the first lap, then left the field behind on the second lap as the Panthers repeated as Division 1 state champions in the 4x800 on Saturday, May 31, at East Kentwood. "The girls took care of business. It takes all four and we have the depth," West Ottawa coach Kyle Barnes said.

    Holland Christian tennis player Iyla Holmes reached the state finals at No. 4 singles on Saturday, May 31, leading the Maroons to seventh at the Division 3 state finals. Holmes survived a 1-6, 7-6(6), 7-6(5) semifinal over Mia Owings of East Grand Rapids to reach the final. She lost to top-seeded Helen Benjamin of Detroit Country Day in the finals, 6-3, 6-2. The Maroons scored 13 points to finish seventh. Hamilton was ninth with nine points. Detroit Country Day won with 34.
