Seven people accused of killing Sam Nordquist appeared in court Thursday morning. Precious Arzuaga, 38, Kyle Sage, 33, Patrick Goodwin, 30, Emily Motyka, 19, Jennifer Quijano, 30, Kimberly Sochia, 29, and Thomas Eaves, 21, are accused of torturing Nordquist to death in a Hopewell motel room in February. On Thursday, defense attorneys argued for separate trials and for the case to be moved out of Ontario County. They also say that the district attorney's office has been slow sharing evidence.

A man well known for his involvement in anti-violence programs in Rochester has died. Victor Saunders passed away Thursday evening. "This is a sad day for us at City Hall with the loss of my good friend, senior advisor, and member for our management team,” Rochester Mayor Malik Evans said. Saunders was picked by Evans to be his advisor on violence prevention programs. He was also known for his involvement with the Pathways to Peace program.
