WASATCH COUNTY, Utah (KUTV) — A patient at an addiction recovery center in Wasatch County is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly stabbing another patient in the neck multiple times in an unprovoked incident. Wasatch County sheriff’s deputies responded to the facility on Wednesday, April 30, after receiving reports of a stabbing. When they arrived, the victim was being airlifted to University of Utah Medical Center.

Juan Madrid died after he and another employee were hit by an Acura MDX while performing routine rail maintenance near 5900 South and 350 West. Utah Trasit authorities said the driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the intersection before fleeing the scene on foot. The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Brandom Palma, later turned himself in and was booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail. Both workers were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

OGDEN, Utah (KUTV) — Residents are speculating that a meteorite struck Ogden on Saturday night after several people reported seeing a bright green ball of light streaking across the sky. Videos and images began circulating on social media around 9:30 p.m. on May 3. One resident shared surveillance camera footage showing what appeared to be a ball of light soaring across the northern sky.

ISLAND PARK, Idaho (KUTV) — Authorities have confirmed that all but one passenger in the tour van involved in a fiery Idaho crash that killed seven were international tourists traveling to Yellowstone National Park. Idaho State Police said 12 of the 14 occupants in the Mercedes van that crashed with a pickup truck on U.S. 20 in Island Park, Idaho, on Friday, May 2, were of Chinese nationality, and one was of Italian nationality.

ST. GEORGE, Utah (KUTV) — A 29-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly picked up a 13-year-old girl in his van as she was walking home with her sister in St. George. St. George police said a young girl contacted them shortly before 9:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1. She reported that she had been walking home with her sister when a white van with a distinct frog symbol approached her sibling near 747 E. Riverside Drive, then sped away. The caller said she was unable to find her sister.
