The Lorain County Traffic Fatality Review Committee recently reviewed five fatal traffic crashes that killed five people between Nov. 16 and April 13, according to a news release. Conducted through Lorain County Public Health, the committee meets quarterly to review area fatal vehicle crashes to identify trends and develop possible countermeasures and interventions to prevent similar crashes. The committee met June 14.

The Taste of History returns to Amherst from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 13 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 14 at Sandstone Village, 763 Milan Ave. Admission is free and free parking and a shuttle are available from Amherst Junior High, 548 Milan Ave. Guests can experience the sights, sounds and flavors that fueled soldiers through the ages, according to a news release. From noon to 4 p.m., attendees can sample authentic military rations from different eras with a donation.

A LIFE, a Dementia Friendly Foundation in Oberlin, announced a generous gift of $35,000 from Home Instead of Ohio, according to a news release. This unrestricted donation will directly support programming to support people living with dementia and their caregivers in both Lorain and Wayne counties, the release said. The cornerstone of LIFE is its Memory Cafés, which are lively, comforting and safe gathering places for those with memory loss and their caregivers, according to the release.

A remembrance ceremony for area fallen veterans will take place at the Lorain County Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, according to a news release. The ceremony will start at 6 p.m. May 25 on the grounds of the Old Courthouse, 308 Second St. in downtown Elyria. Gold Star families and relatives are invited as honored guests, according to the release. Jacob Smith, executive director of the Lorain County Veterans Service Commission, will provide remarks, the release said.

The Lorain County Sheriff's Office has advised residents near Russia Road in between South Amherst and Amherst Township to shelter in place because they are looking for a wanted suspect who is believed to be in the woods south of Russia Road.

From NOACA: An Air Quality Advisory for fine particulate matter was issued for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, and Summit counties effective through Thursday, Dec. 26. Air quality levels may be "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" during this period.
