TYSONS CORNER, Va. (WSET) — In the opening contest of the ODAC championship weekend, the top-seeded University of Lynchburg baseball team surged to a 14-2 victory against fourth-seeded Shenandoah on Thursday afternoon at Capital One Park. The No. 5 Lynchburg Hornets used a four-run fourth frame to go in front and held onto the advantage for the remainder of the contest, adding pairs of runs in the sixth and seventh innings and five additional runs in the eighth.

No. 1 seed Liberty began its title defense with a decisive 8-0, six-inning victory over No. 4 seed Louisiana Tech in the quarterfinals of the 2025 CUSA Softball Championship, Thursday at WKU Softball Complex. The Lady Flames (45-11) tossed their fourth shutout in a row, advancing to tomorrow's semifinal round against No. 3 seed Jacksonville State at 1 p.m. ET (noon CT). The winner of that game will go to Saturday's final, airing at 1 p.m. ET (noon CT) on CBS Sports Network.

FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WSET) — An early rally for the Salem Red Sox wasn't enough down the stretch, as Fayetteville rallied in the 6th and 7th innings for a 5-4 win to start the Sox road trip. Salem (12-15) jumped out quickly in the first on a RBI double by Freili Encarnacion, plating Andruw Musett. Starlyn Nunez would bring Encarnacion home shortly thereafter for a 2-0 lead.
