    Port St. Joe Dixie 8-and-under Darlings softball team went undefeated earlier this month in the District 2 tournament in Blountstown, battling against six teams in their district to earn their way into the championship game, where they defeated Sneads 11-7. This earned their way to the state tournament to be held in Belleview June 27 to 30.

    Terry Carrington, 38, of Carrabelle, was sentenced Wednesday to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon and assault resulting in serious bodily injury that occurred a little more than a year ago in the Gulf of Mexico. The sentence was announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

    Three players who starred for their high school baseball teams along the Forgotten Coast were a part of this past season’s Weevils team at Enterprise State Community College. Sophomore Garrison Cook, a right handed pitcher from Franklin County; freshman Max Godwin, a right-handed infielder from Port St. Joe; and freshman Will Chipman, a left-handed pitcher from Carrabelle, each were part of the Weevil team that went 34-16, and 25-11 in conference play, under coach Samuel “Bubba” Frichter.
