COLUMBIA — They were right there, with the runners and the chances. Just couldn’t get the big hit. South Carolina shut out The Citadel 4-0 on April 15, sweeping the season series. The Bulldogs (19-18) hung in the game, outhitting USC 7-6, but the Gamecocks (21-17) did more damage with theirs. KJ Scobey ripped a solo home run into the USC bullpen in the second inning and The Citadel gave the Gamecocks another run when starter Conner Cummiskey (0-1) beaned Beau Hollins with the bases loaded.

In a two-year career that saw her become one of the most lethal shooters in the country, she helped the Gamecocks to two appearances in the national championship game, with one win. Now she'll head to the next level as the latest Gamecock drafted into the WNBA. Paopao was picked with the sixth pick of the second round (18th overall) by Atlanta in the league's draft on April 14.
