A SCOTS town has been named among the "most boring in Britain". Alloa, in Clackmannanshire, was described as "culturally devoid and one of the most deprived places in Scotland" by website ilivehere.co.uk. The location, which has a population of almost 15,000 people, came third on The Telegraph's ranking of the most dull places, behind destinations such as Surbiton and Stevenage in England. We travelled to Alloa to decide whether it deserves to be labelled 'boring'.

SCOTS flocked to parks and beaches across the country as they basked in temperatures as high as 23C. There were long bright spells yesterday and today, with the BBC forecasting another 15 hours of sunshine tomorrow. At Portobello Beach in Edinburgh, families were seen topping up their tans while youngsters cooled off with a dip in the sea. Others chose to relax at The Meadows or Glasgow's Botanic Gardens.

COUNCIL and police chiefs have failed to agree a plan to house an Old Firm title party leaving residents and businesses in Scotland’s biggest city fearing wrecked streets. Officials met with MSPs and both clubs but couldn’t come up with a deal for a structured venue to avoid the scenes in recent years where fans have been left to party in Glasgow city centre. The council admitted they've only just finished paying the £73,000 bill for last year’s damage at the Trongate.

THIS is the moment passengers swigged beer as CalMac's newest ferry finally set sail after years of repeated delays and spiralling costs. The MV Glen Sannox welcomed its first passengers onboard for its first service as it travelled from Troon, Ayrshire, to the Isle of Arran this morning. The vessel docked in Brodick around 8.10am after being put through its paces during a choppy crossing across the Firth of Clyde. Passengers looked relaxed as the ferry made its maiden voyage.
