More than 1,000 people in the 11-county region are experiencing some form of homelessness, according to results released Friday by the Chattanooga Regional Homeless Coalition. That's a 12% increase from last year. The figures are from an annual point in time count conducted Jan. 22, which offers a snapshot of the number of people experiencing sheltered and unsheltered homelessness. The count found 656 people were unsheltered and 436 were sheltered for a total of 1,092.
