Pizza, coffee, ice cream, baby clothes, laser beams. The array of Washington products and businesses feeling the effects of President Donald Trump's scattershot, whiplash tariff policy runs the gamut from everyday to esoteric. Pizzerias are paying more because they only use Italian ingredients. Coffee roasters are paying more because, well, the U.S. can't grow coffee beans. Ice cream shops that tout their all-local ingredients can't escape: Their plastic spoons come from China.

Washington Attorney General Nick Brown, along with 15 other states, sued the Trump administration Friday for delaying and canceling funding for medical and public health research. The lawsuit, filed in federal district court in Massachusetts, alleges the administration "has engaged in a concerted and multi-pronged effort to disrupt" grants distributed by the National Institutes of Health, the nation's premier forum for funding medical research.

Washington Attorney General Nick Brown joined 20 other states Friday in suing the Trump administration to block the dismantling of federal agencies that support libraries, museums, workers and minority owned businesses. The lawsuit, filed in federal district court in Rhode Island, seeks to stall a Trump executive order that called for the dismantling of seven federal agencies. Three of those agencies have since gutted every one of their operations, the lawsuit says.
