SENECA FALLS — The Cayuga Nation will proceed to seek recognition by New York State Supreme Court of the Nation’s Civil Court judgments for unpaid rent against eight of its citizens, each charged with occupying Nation-owned properties for several years without paying rent. Nation lawyers petitioned under state law to obtain recognition of those judgments by state courts, complying with a requirement that judgments from other states must be endorsed by New York courts.

SENECA FALLS — At least two people have told Seneca Falls Democratic Party Chair Rachel Weil that they plan to seek a nomination for two Town Board seats at tonight’s party caucus. The caucus to select candidates will be at 6 p.m. at the Community Center, 35 Water St.Other names may be put in for nomination at the caucus, but the two announced candidates are:Gabrielle ‘Gabby’ CosentinoCosentino, 25, works as social media manager for Parker’s on Fall Street.

SENECA FALLS — Early voting for the June 24 primary elections began Saturday. On Tuesday, the town’s 2,089 enrolled Republicans who did not cast ballots early will head to the polls to decide the party’s candidates for two positions on the five-member Town Board. With incumbent Republicans Kaitlyn Laskoski and Frank Sinicropi not seeking reelection, the field is wide open. The two top vote-getters will appear on the Republican line in November.

CANANDAIGUA — The date hasn’t been determined yet, but Victor Supervisor Jack Marren will not be wearing his usual attire at that day’s Ontario County Board of Supervisors meeting. Instead, he’ll be sporting a Canandaigua jersey. Why? He lost a wager with Canandaigua Supervisor Jared Simpson over the Section V Class B boys lacrosse championship game between Victor and Canandaigua. The Gray Wolves edged the rival Blue Devils 11-10. If Victor had won, Simpson would be wearing a Victor jersey.

Four graduating seniors, two from Canandaigua Academy and two from Mynderse Academy, have graduated from the 1st Amendment-1st Vote government leadership program. The 44 graduates include Sarah Gatesman and Taylor Pennise of Canandaigua, and Melany Johnson and Riayla Jones of Mynderse. The program helps train and educate female high school students on assuming roles in local government.
