Maiya Badon, pitch running for Avah Reyes, stole third base in the bottom of the final inning, and she came into score to give the Lady Eagles the game on a throwing error by the Lady Hawks. Abilene High built a 4-2 lead with a four-run second inning.

    EASTLAND, Texas (BCH Sports) – The Eastland Mavericks have a new head football coach and athletic director. The school district hired Matt Landers to lead the program. Landers comes to Eastland from Goldthwaite where he was the defensive coordinator. Prior to arriving in Goldthwaite, Landers was the head coach at Lubbock Roosevelt. He was 30-28 in five seasons leading the Eagles from 2018-2022.

They are headed into the Class 4A Division I regional semifinals after a pair of sweeps in the first two rounds of action. This is a team that missed the playoffs entirely when they seniors were freshmen. The players took that disappointment to heart, and the Lady Lions were determined to not let that happen again.
