RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - High temperatures will be near or in the 90s for all of KOTA Territory, even the Black Hills! Some spots on the plains could flirt with 100° during the afternoon hours. Expect showers and thunderstorms to develop Wednesday afternoon. Some storms may become strong to severe with damaging winds and large hail as the primary threats. Temperatures will cool off Thursday and Friday with 80s to low 90s likely across the area.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - High temperatures will reach the 90s across much of KOTA Territory on Tuesday and it gets even hotter Wednesday with some spots flirting with the triple digits. A few storms are possible Tuesday, but the chances are low. Expect a few around the Black Hills. Wednesday will bring a better chance for storms, where some may be strong to severe. It’ll be cooler Thursday and Friday with 80s and some 90s on tap.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - We’ll have plenty of sunshine Saturday until storms begin to develop in the afternoon. A few storms may be strong to severe with damaging winds and large hail as the primary threats. The severe threat ends Saturday evening, but showers and storms will linger Saturday night into Sunday. Temperatures will be in the 70s for much of the area this weekend, but warmer air is expected to return next week.

Storms will develop Tuesday afternoon across Wyoming and Montana and move into KOTA Territory during the evening hours, mainly after 6 p.m. through the midnight hour. Strong to severe storms are possible with damaging winds as the primary threats. There is another chance for strong to severe storms Wednesday afternoon with hail and wind as the primary threats there.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Highs are going to be in the 90s and 100s to kick off the weekend, which could set records in some spots. Sunday will be in the 90s for many with a little more cloud cover. While Saturday is dry, storm chances return Sunday afternoon and evening. Monday will be mostly dry, but starting Tuesday and through the rest of next week, expect daily and nightly storm chances. Temperatures will be on the decline next week with highs by Thursday/Friday in the 70s for many.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - High temperatures on Saturday will likely reach the upper 90s and climb into the triple digits. Rapid City will reach 103°, which would break the previous record of 102° set back in 1947. Data is suggesting we keep the upper 90s to near 100° for Saturday. While that is possible, there will be plenty more clouds, which could keep the temperatures in the 90s for many. Either way it will still be quite warm. A few afternoon and evening storms are expected.

(KOTA) - Dangerous heat is on tap as we kick off the rally and the KOTA Weather Team has issued a First Alert Weather Day for Friday and Saturday due to temperatures near or in the 100s. Temperatures this warm increase the chances for heat related illness. Please be sure to stay hydrated and avoid long exposure to the sun and heat. Temperatures will gradually cool down going into next week with 70s and 80s likely for highs by Wednesday and beyond.
