RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - The search is on in Nebraska for a suspect after an officer involved shooting today in Fall River County. The South Dakota Attorney General’s Office says it started with a vehicle pursuit on the Pine Ridge Reservation that went into Fall River County. Shots were fired by Oglala Sioux Tribal Police and the A-G’s office says one person received non-life threatening injuries. They say no officers were injured.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Big changes could be coming to the city of Edgemont. Edgemont Mayor Rheta Reagan says employees of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad have been notified that the railroad plans to discontinue stopping in Edgemont. She says that would force the 100 local railroad employees to go to Alliance, Nebraska to catch their trains and she says that would have a huge effect on Edgemont. Reagan says, “It’s going to be devastating for Edgemont.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Helene Duhamel has been in the public eye here in the Black Hills for decades. First as a news anchor, then as a state legislator and as the public information officer for the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office. Now, she’s speaking out for another familiar reason. Helene Duhamel had a very public fight with cancer after she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease back in 1992 while working as an anchor at KOTA Territory News.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - A Black Hawk man is sentenced to ten years in federal prison Friday on a gun charge after putting a pistol to the head of a woman and threatening her while she was holding her three year old daughter back in November of 2023. 28 year old Dakota Jolley earlier pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Jolley was not allowed to have the gun due to two previous drug convictions. A video of the incident was played in court Friday morning.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - The Air Force’s accident investigation report on the January 4th crash of a B-1 bomber at Ellsworth Air Force Base is out and it lists a multitude of factors that led to the crash of the 450 million dollar jet. Those factors include multiple crew failures, bad weather, wind shear and an organizational culture at the base that tolerated decaying airmanship skills, a lack of discipline, poor communication and inadequate focus on regulations.
