A 20-year-old woman pleaded guilty on Thursday, June 5, to the October 2023 murder of her boyfriend at his home on Peoria's West Bluff. Tnashia S. Wash admitted the killing but claimed it was in self-defense, the Peoria County State's Attorney's Office said in a Facebook post. On Oct. 16, 2023, police responded to a report of a man shot in the 1200 block of North Ellis Street, the post said. Upon arrival, officers found Wash outside the home. She said she had shot Roderick Richardson, 30.

A Peoria man was arrested Wednesday, June 4, on suspicion of engaging in an online chat with a child and planning to meet for sexual purposes. James L. Parker was taken into custody without incident in the 1200 block of West McClure Avenue, the Peoria Police Department said in a Thursday news release. He was transported to the Criminal Investigations Division for questioning and later arrested on charges of indecent solicitation of a child and grooming. He was booked into the Peoria County Jail.
