Next McClugage Bridge demolition event has been set. Here's what to know

The McClugage Bridge will be closed entirely for about an hour on Wednesday, April 30, as demolition of the former eastbound span of U.S. Route 150 over the Illinois River continues. The closure is expected to begin around 9:30 a.m., weather permitting, and to last at least an hour, the Illinois Department of Transportation wrote in a news release. During the closure, the contractor will use explosives to sever the steel to the main truss section of the old bridge.
