    A 3-year-old was injured in a shooting on North 26th Street near Laurel Street on Tuesday, according to Baton Rouge police. The child was taken to a hospital in critical condition after the incident, which happened at around 6:40 p.m., according to a police spokesperson. The investigation is ongoing.     Police are investigating two fatal shooting that happened within hours of each other Tuesday night, according to a Baton Rouge Police Department spokesperson. The first shooting occurred around 6:30 p.m. Off of La Margie Avenue near North Cristy Drive.  The second shooting happened around 8 p.m. in the 10,000 block of Avenue E. Both incidents are under investigation, said Lt. L’Jean McKneely.

    Voters affirmed Dustin Yates’ leadership Saturday night, electing the interim mayor to steer St. George for the next four years. Yates defeated fellow Republican Jim Morgan 65% to 35%, according to complete but unofficial results. "This is a great moment.     A man has been arrested in connection with the non-fatal shooting of a Southern University student on Sunday, March 2, the university announced Friday. Semaj Joiner was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Forth Worth, Texas on Thursday, nearly two weeks after the shooting. Joiner has been charged with carrying a firearm on school property, attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon or dangerous instrumentalities.

    Over the course of six hours — from 7 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. — from Wednesday night into Thursday morning, there were three separate car crashes in the Baton Rouge area, resulting in the deaths of four people.  Just after after 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Louisiana State Police troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on La. 30 near Bluebonnet Boulevard. The crash resulted in the deaths of 24-year-old Jeremiah Downing and 22-year-old Hunter LaGrange of Hahnville.
