Sunday, April 13At 2:10 a.m. Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested David Allan Latham, 35, of Independence, for third or subsequent offense possession of controlled substance (Class D felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor). This arrest was made in the 2200 block of Iowa Avenue. The Buchanan County Sheriff’s K9 Unit assisted in this arrest.

STRAWBERRY POINT — Area residents of Strawberry Point will have one less summer attraction for families to enjoy following the City Council’s decision Wednesday night to close the City Pool. City Administrator Deno Andrews announced the decision and explanation along with data and costs in a Facebook post on the city’s page.

Neither Democrats nor Republicans ever push back against big oil. They were both bought by big oil years ago!Check your “smart” phone (the name has no relation to the user) for government subsidies. It is shocking how many entities get subsidies for more than one billion dollars.

MAYNARD — West Central Senior Citizens met Tuesday, April 15, for their weekly get together of playing cards and socializing. High scores in playing 500 went to Tom Buhr and Larry Torson. Betty Wittenberg provided refreshments for the group. The next get together will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the Maynard Community Hall. Shirley Warnke will be the hostess. All area older adults are invited for an afternoon of card playing and socializing. There's no commitment, just attend when able.
