EAST MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) -East Moline Main Street is excited to host the 3rd annual Cinco de Mayo Taco and Margarita Street Festival on Saturday, May 3 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. along 15th Avenue. Niabi Zoo opens for season

COAL VALLEY, Ill. Iowa (KWQC) -Niabi Zoo has opened its doors for the 2025 season. Opening day is Tuesday, April 22. Regular hours throughout the season will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, with last entry at 4 p.m. Tickets are $11 for those 13 and up, $10 for seniors over 62 and military, $8.50 for children ages 2 to 12, and free for kids under 2. A massive snowstorm in January 2024 caused heavy damage to the zoo’s cat and eagle exhibits when snow collapsed parts of the structures.
Annual Davenport doggie egg hunt happening Saturday

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) -The City of Davenport Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with Humane Society of Scott County to host the annual Doggie Egg Hunt in Centennial Park on Saturday, April 26 from 12 to 2 p.m. Attendees will have a chance to win a $50 Kwik Star gift card following official check-in. Participating canines must be on a leash and be vaccinated. This festive gathering offers tons of treats (donated by Purina) to be sniffed out by dogs.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) -Three artists have been chosen to showcase the power of mural art by creating a mural in real time during the 2024 Alternating Currents Festival set to run Aug. 15 to 18. The selected artists, Erykah Danner, Shayla Ray, and Tony Cavallo, began drawing their design at the mural site on Aug. 15 and will continue to paint through Aug.17. The lead artists that are overseeing the project are Atlanta Dawn and Heidi Sallows.

According to an announcement from the non-profit, the expansion comes after Gilda’s Club received a grant from the Iowa Cancer Consortium.
