CAROLINA TRACE — FirstHealth of the Carolinas recently recognized the Carolina Trace Fire Department for its completion of training as part of the system’s medical first responder program. Carolina Trace firefighters underwent several weeks of training to align their efforts with protocols that guide medical care in the FirstHealth EMS System. FirstHealth has provided EMS services in Lee County for the last three years and also provides EMS services in Chatham, Montgomery and Richmond counties.

FirstHealth Fitness is helping kick off 2025 with a bang with the inaugural Sanford Resolution Run & FirstHealth Fitness Fest 5K. Scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, the resolution run is a partnership between FirstHealth Fitness, Visit Sanford NC and Downtown Sanford, Inc. “We are thrilled to be hosting our first resolution run in downtown Sanford,” FirstHealth Fitness — Sanford facility director Rance Bryant said.

PITTSBORO — FirstHealth Family Medicine – Chatham is moving to a new location and is accepting new patients. Beginning April 1, Claire Repine, D.O. and Roger Diaz, PA-C, will see patients at Northwood Landing at 40 Ramseur Road, Suite 102 in Pittsboro. Dan Barnes, D.O. and president of FirstHealth Physician Group, said the new clinic space will allow FirstHealth to better serve the people of Pittsboro and Chatham County.

Roger Diaz, PA-C, is an experienced provider joining James Liffrig, M.D., and Claire Repine, D.O., to continue providing exceptional care to patients of all ages in Chatham County and neighboring communities. Diaz has 14 years of patient care experience and serves in the North Carolina Army National Guard as a lieutenant colonel.

A 19-year-old Lumberton man was charged late Tuesday in the fatal shooting death of a Connecticut man who was working at the Robeson County fair. Terrence Devon Paige is charged with first-degree murder and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. According to police, Paige shot and killed 53-year-old Edward M. Reiner, of New Milford, Conn., Monday night after a fight behind a convenience store across the street from the fair.
