AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — This past weekend, the Amarillo Mixed 18 & Over tennis team showcased their talent at the USTA state tournament in Abilene, bringing home a victory. As champions of Texas, the Amarillo squad will represent the state in Arizona during the first weekend of November. The players have worked tirelessly to reach this milestone, and their dedication and teamwork have truly paid off.

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — An emergency situation on the train tracks came to a successful resolution after a person was freed from a coal cart. The incident, which began earlier when a call reported an individual trapped in a coal cart, saw swift and coordinated efforts from local emergency services. The Amarillo Fire Department (AFD) and Amarillo Police Department (APD) were promptly dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they were able to locate the coal cart where the individual was trapped.

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A police pursuit ended with a moving truck crashing into a front yard and the driver fleeing, prompting an extensive search by local authorities early Monday morning. At about 2:45 a.m., Amarillo Police officers were called to the 1400 block of Nix Street for a panic alarm at a residence and began following the moving truck linked to the alarm. The white box truck was parked along the curb in the same block. Officers saw the truck drive away and over a curb.

Amarillo's 'Welcome Pardner' organization recently recognized the Texas Department of Transportation (TX-DOT) crew for their exceptional efforts in assisting with wildfire cleanup earlier this year in Fritch and Canadian. According to TX-DOT spokesman Jason Britsch, the crew's contributions extended far beyond rebuilding efforts for wildfire victims.
