This October, NASA will launch its Europa Clipper spacecraft on a mission to Jupiter’s moon Europa. Engraved into the craft’s side is the poem “In Praise of Mystery” by Ada Limón. As US poet laureate, Limón has created You Are Here, an anthology (Milkweed Editions, April) and installation project in partnership with the National Park Service that explores the connection between poetry and nature.

Teen Gianna Goodman-Bhyat knew that if she wanted to get her peers’ attention about book bans in their community, she needed to do something drastic. She recruited a group of fellow teen activists to wrap caution tape around their backpacks and wear them to school as a symbol for the censorship that was occurring locally and nationwide. When people asked about the caution tape, she and the other campaign participants had a flier handy with information about their cause.

“I’m a mom,” Taraji P. Henson said in her June 29 speaker session at the American Library Association’s 2024 Annual Conference and Exhibition in San Diego. “I mean, he’s 30 now—but once a mom, always a mom.”That was just one of the reasons why Henson, an Academy Award–nominated actor, producer, author, and mental-health advocate, chose to write her debut picture book, You Can Be a Good Friend (No Matter What!) (June, Zonderkidz).
