Officials have identified the son of a sherriff’s deputy as a suspect in the deadly Florida State University shooting that killed two and wounded several others Thursday. Phoenix Ikner, 20, accessed one of his mother's weapons — a handgun — that officials said was used in the shooting and matched one of the firearms at the scene, Walt McNeil, the Leon County Sheriff said at a Thursday afternoon news conference.

Multiple patients have been hospitalized after an active shooter was reported at Florida State University's campus in Tallahassee. The school sent an alert urging students to seek shelter as a shooter was reported in the area of the student union. Police were "on scene or on the way," according to the alert. "Lock and stay away from all doors and windows and be prepared to take additional protective measures," the alert said.

Aaron Boupendza, a forward from Gabon with an international soccer career, died on Wednesday after falling from the 11th story of a building in China, where he was playing for Zheijang FC. He was 28. Officials from Gabon announced the news of his death in a statement through the Fédération Gabonaise de Football, also known as FEGAFOOT. The federation offered its condolences to Boupendza's family.
